Phrasal Verbs - Step Up (on)


Step up (on) (Inseparable) = Aumentar la intensidad de una acción.
                        Step = Poner el pie / Pisar     Up = Arriba     On = Sobre, encima.

Ejemplos:

The government had to step up on security, due to the king’s visit = El gobierno tuvo que aumentar la seguridad, debido a la visita del rey.
We need to step up on the number of hours that we work = tenemos que aumentar el número de horas que trabajamos.
Tienen que aumentar las exportaciones = They have to step up on the number of exports.
La tienen que aumentar = They have to step up on them.
Aumenta la seguridad = Step up on security.
Auméntala = Step up on it.
Hay que subir la producción = We have to step up on the production.
Hay que intensificar las ventas = We have to step up on the sales.
Hay que intensificarlo = We have to step up on it.
Aumentaron la seguridad = They stepped up on security.
Siempre la aumentan cuando lo visita el rey = They always step up on it when the King visits.
La aumentaron ayer = They stepped up on yesterday.
Intensificaron los bombardeos = They stepped up on the bombings.
Los intensificaron = They stepped up on them.
No debieron intensificarlo tanto = They must not have stepped up on it that much.
Tenemos que aumentar el número de horas = We hae to step up on the number of hours.
Tenemos que aumentar las importaciones de petróleo = We have to step up on oil imports.
Las tienen que aumentar = They have to step up on them.
Puede que lo aumenten = They might step up on it.
Deberían aumentar la frecuencia = They should step up on the frecuency.
¿Aumentaste? = Did you step up?
Aumentaron la seguridad del rey = They stepped up on the king’s security.
¿La aumentaste? = Did you step up on it?
No quisieron aumentar la seguridad = They din’t want to step up on the security.
¿Por qué no aumentaron la seguridad? = Why didn’t they step up on security?
