*If you are acquainted with something, you know
about it and are familiar with it: Students became acquainted with all aspects
of biology before choosing the course. # He was well acquainted with sorrow,

technology.
*If you are acquainted with someone, you know
them slightly but they are not a close friend: I hear you’re acquainted with
Jerry Pierce. # Mrs Grunblatt used to be acquainted with a painter.
