Average out at sth
*To result in an average amount over a period
of time or when several things are considered: The cost should average out at
about $5 per person. # Sometimes I pay, sometimes he pays –it seems the average
out (=result in us paying the same amount).
*To have a particular number or amount as the
average: My annual holiday varies, but it averages out at five weeks a year.
*If a set of numbers averages out at a
particular figure, that figure is the average for the set of numbers: ‘How many
hours do you work?’ ’I suppose it averages out at about 40 a week.’
