Awaken sb to sth
*To make someone understand a situation and its
possible effects: We must awaken people to the dangers for the environment.
*To become aware or to make somebody aware of
something and its possible effects or results: I gradually awakened to the
realization that our marriage was over. # Someone needed to awaken Gavin to the
fact that his marriage was in danger.

*If you awaken someone to something. You make
them notice it or make them remember it: I awakened him to his responsibilities
for his children.
