Phrasal Verbs - Turn on


Turn on (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Encender algo que tenga interruptor.
                               *Exitar a alguien.
                               Turn = Girar          On = Encendido

Ejemplos:

Turn on the radio = Enciende la radio.
Turn it on = Enciéndelo.
She turns me on = Ella me pone.
Enciende el móvil = Turn on the mobile phone.
Enciéndelo = Turn it on.
Enciende la tele = Turn on the TV.
No la encendieron = They didn’t turn it on.
Estamos perdidos enciende el GPS = We’re lost, turn on the GPS.
Enciéndelo = Turn it on.
Las estás excitando = You’re turning her on.
El me pone = He turns me on.
Me gustan ese tipo de cosas = those types of things turn me on.
Pon la radio = Turn on the radio.

Phrasal Verbs - Turn around


Turn around (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Dar la vuelta.
                               *Mejorar algo que va mal
                               Turn = Girar      Around = Alrededor

Ejemplos:

Turn around so I can see you = Date la vuelta para que te pueda ver.
Why don’t we turn around? It’s getting late = ¿Por qué no damos la vuelta? Se hace tarde.
We need to turn the score around = Tenemos que darle la vuelta al marcador.
Date la vuelta = Turn around.

Throw up (Separable) = Vomitar
                               Throw = Tirar     Up = Arriba

Phrasal Verbs - Talk over


Talk over (Separabale) = Discutir un tema.
                               Talk = Hablar      Over = Sobre

Ejemplos:

We have to talk over the problema with the networks = Tenemos que hablar sobre el tema de las redes.
I want to talk over the picture first = Quiero discutir el precio primero.
We need to talk it over first = Tenemos que discutirlo primero.

Take up (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Empezar una afición o actividad nueva.
                               *Aceptar una oferta.
                               Take = Llevar / Tomar      Up = Arriba

Ejemplos:

I’m going to take up golf = Voy a empezar a jugar al golf.
I might take up wáter skiing too = Puede que también haga esquí acuático.
I may take your offer up = Puede que acepte tu oferta.
I might take it up = Puede que la acepte.
Voy a aprender a hacer windsurf = I'm going to take up windsurf.

Take out (of) (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Sacar a alguien en plan de cita social, ligue, etc.
                               *Sacar algo de alguna parte (of); lo opuesto de put in.
                               Take = Llevar      Out = Fuera

Ejemplos:

Paco took Ana out of the cinema = Paco llevó a Ana al cine.
Take the fruit out of the bag = Saca la fruta de la bolsa.
Take it out of the bag = Sácalo de la bolsa.

Take off (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Quitarse ropa o prendas, lo opuesto de put on.
                               * Cuando un avión despega.
                               Take = Coger / Llevar      Off = Fuera

Ejemplos:

I have to take off my jacket = Tengo que quitarme la chaqueta.
Take it off! = ¡Quítatela!
The airplane took off late = El avión despegó tarde.

Phrasal Verbs - Sleep off


Sleep off (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones
*Cuando estas enfadado, te vas a dormir para quitarte el enfado.
*Dormir la mona: Cuando estás muy ebrio, te vas a dormir para quitar el efecto.
                               Sleep = Dormir         Off = Apagado

Ejemplos:

He was very upset, I told him to sleep it off = Estaba muy enfadado, le dije que lo olvidara.
Go sleep it off = Vete a dormer la mona // Vete a despejar esa borrachera.

Run over (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones
                               *Atropellar.
                               *Ir rápidamente a un sitio
                               Run = Correr     Over = Sobre

Ejemplos:

The car ran over  the por cat = El coche atropelló al pobre gato.
Don’t run them over = No les atropelles.
Could you run over to the pharmacy and pick up some aspirin? = ¿Podrías ir a la farmacia por una aspirina?

Phrasal Verbs - Put out


Put out (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Extinguir / Apagar algo que se está quemando.
                               *Sacar algo fuera (outside).
                               Put = Poner  Out = Fuera

Ejemplos:

I took the firemen two hours to put out the fire = Los bomberos tardaron dos horas en apagar el fuego.
Put out the cigarette before you come in = Apaga el cigarillo antes de entrar.
Put it out! = ¡Apágalo!
Put it outside = Sácalo afuera.
Apaga el cigarillo = Put out the cigarette.
Los bomberos apagaron/extinguieron el fuego = The firefighters puto ut the fire.

Post up (Separable) = Anunciar información gráficamente.
                               Post = Colgar   Up = arriba

Ejemplos:

Ponlo en el monitor de tu PC = Post it up onyour PC monitor.

Put away (Separable) = Tenemos dos definiciones.
                               *Poner o guardar cosas en su sitio.
                               *Encarcelar durante mucho tiempo.
                               Put = Poner   Away = Más allá

Ejemplos:

I have to put away my things = Tengo que guardar mis cosas.
Put them away = ¡Guárdalas!
They’ll put him away forever for the crime he committed = Le encarcelarán para siempre por el crimen que cometió.

Pop up (Separable) = Aparecer de repente.
                               Pop = Estallar    Up = Arriba

Ejemplos:

The game was tied until Messi popped up and scored a fabulous goal = El partido estaba empatado hasta que Messi apareció con un golazo.
They simply popped up = Simplemente aparecieron.
Surgió ayer = It popped up yesterday.
Aparecieron de repente = It suddenly popped up.

Surgió = It popped up.
Siempre surgen de repente = It always posp up.
Nunca surgen tan repentinamente = It never pops up so suddenly.

Point out (Separable) = Indicar, explicar, enfatizar.
                               Point = Señalar    Out = Fuera

Indícalos = Point them out.
